Getting Started

Getting Started With Florida Real Estate Education

Common questions from students who are deciding which Florida real estate class or license path comes first.

Once I enroll, can I begin the course right away?

The registration process usually takes less than 24 hours. Once you are enrolled, you will receive an email with instructions on how to log in and access your online course or course materials.

Which Florida real estate course should I take first?

Most new Florida real estate students begin with the Sales Associate pre-license course. Broker, post-license, continuing education, and exam prep courses are usually taken later depending on your current license status and goal.

Can Russ Harbour help me choose the right class?

Yes. If you are unsure whether you need a Sales Associate, Broker, online, live, audit, cram, or continuing education course, contact the school and we can help point you toward the right option.

Licensing Requirements

Florida Licensing Requirements

Questions about required education, mutual recognition, and the Florida licensing process.

Is there any way to obtain a Florida real estate license without taking the pre-license course?

Generally, applicants must complete a required pre-license course, either online or in person. Some non-residents with a qualifying license from a mutual recognition state may only need to take the Florida law exam. People with a four-year college degree in real estate and members of the Florida Bar may also have different education requirements. Contact the school if you think you may qualify under a special rule.

What are Florida mutual recognition states?

Mutual recognition states have historically included Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nebraska, Rhode Island, and West Virginia. Requirements can change, so students should verify current rules with the Florida DBPR before applying.

Do I need to complete the course before taking the state exam?

Yes. Florida students generally need to complete the required education and satisfy the state application requirements before scheduling and taking the state exam.

Class Formats

Online, Live, and Zoom Classes

Questions about choosing the class format that best fits your schedule and learning style.

Can I take Florida real estate classes online?

Yes. Russ Harbour Real Estate School offers online course options for students who need flexibility. Live in-person and live Zoom options may also be available depending on the class and schedule.

What is the difference between live classes and online courses?

Live classes provide scheduled instruction and more structure, while online courses are better for students who need to study on their own schedule. The best option depends on your learning style, availability, and need for instructor support.

Where can I see upcoming class dates?

Upcoming live class dates are posted on the schedule page. Course product pages may also show available class dates and enrollment options when a live class is available.

Exam Prep

Florida Real Estate Exam Preparation

Questions about preparing for the Florida real estate exam and deciding whether additional review support may help.

Does Russ Harbour help students prepare for the Florida real estate exam?

Yes. Courses are designed to support understanding of the material, and exam-focused review or cram options may be available for students who want additional preparation before the state exam.

Should I take an exam prep or cram class?

Students who want extra structure, review, and confidence before the state exam often benefit from an exam prep or cram class. This can be especially helpful if you have been away from the material or need help organizing your study plan.

What should I do if I am nervous about the state exam?

Focus on understanding concepts, reviewing practice questions, and using structured review support. The Florida Real Estate Exam Prep Guide can help you understand common study mistakes and how to prepare more effectively.
